Back in January I set one of my ancient domains to forward all of it’s spam to a Gmail account. (original post: Comparing Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail) I just today looked at the Gmail account to see how it’s doing. Argh! My ancient domain has filled up its hard drive with spam, so it’s been […]
Block 64.62.228.x
Wow, I upgraded one of my blogs (ShowBizRadio.net) to the enwest WordPress earlier this week. The spam fighting system is very different from earlier versions of WordPress. I received 50+ comment spam attempts starting just a few hours ago. As I was typing this entry, I received 9 more! The attempts are all registering as […]
WashingtonPost.com spams
Amazing. On a day a when the FTC fines a millionaire spammer a pittance of the fine due, the Washington Post ignores its privacy policy and spams me with an offer to buy their stupid dead tree paper. But yeah, the spam tells me I can opt-out! Like I should trust that, after all, my […]
Blocked XMR3 family of domains
I’ve just blocked these domains, all related to each other, based on message content, message headers, and whois searches: messagereach.com premiereglobal.com venturedirect.com xmr1.com xmr2.com xmr3.com xmr4.com xmr5.com xmr6.com xmr7.com xmr8.com xmr9.com xmr10.com xmr11.com xmr12.com xmr13.com xmr14.com xmr15.com. They are sending out drivel (spam) with subject lines like “Savvy IT Pros Are Great Responders!” and “Ministry […]
My delegate is still spamming
My elected official, who obviously believes that opt-out is only for suckers, is now on my mail server’s blocklist. Bad riddance. I reported her again. This time she was connected through a Comcast connection. Let’s see if they can get her to stop. Of course, I won’t know, since I shouldn’t see her drivel any […]
My State Delegate spams, or at least doesn’t honor opt-out requests
I was once a part of my state delegate’s bill reading group, as well as have talked with her about issues in the past. But now she emails me at my regular email address, not the tagged one I asked her to use. So I finally have filed a spam repor. Hopefully the postmaster -at- […]
AOL users and list confirmations
Someone just signed up for a mailing list on my day job’s web site. Our system uses Mailman, which sends a confirmation email back to the email address given to get confirmation that the address should be added to the mailing list. An AOL user filed a spam complaint about the confirmation message. Now, that […]
PCMagazine is spamming?
I always register with a unique email address whenever I need to register somewhere. It makes it very easy to track spammers or other companies that choose to violate their privacy policy. Just today, I received an email from PC Magazine. They lie: “You indicated that you want to receive special Ziff Davis offers when […]
Gmail accuracy drops to nearly 7%
My gmail test account is filling up. 2,655 messages are in my Inbox; with 35,536 in my Spambox. Gmail left 6.95% of incoming messages in the Inbox. All messages coming into my account are spam from a dead domain created years ago.
Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail comparison update
I forwarded mail from my spam-collection domain to new accounts at Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. Yahoo and Hotmail didn’t allow any spam at all to get into the Inbox. Of course, Hotmail had an easier time since they only accepted 926 messages, while Yahoo accepted 4,149. Gmail accepted 3,068, allowing 224 (7.30%) into the Inbox. […]
